1- Don’t Overwash Hair
Unless you’re an elite athlete who works out intensely, most people don’t need to wash their hair Every. Single. Day. One to three times a week is a good number. But if you really feel you need to cleanse it on a daily basis, you can always use the co-washing method (basically using conditioner to rid it of dirt and excess grease), that doesn’t strip hair of its good natural oils.
2- Use a Colour Protection Formula
On those days when you do reach out for a shampoo, don’t let that beautiful hair colour literally go down the drain. Make sure you’re always using a professional brand (i.e., the one your hairstylist and hair colourist recommend!) that’s for coloured hair. Formulated without harsh sulphates, parabens, or sodium chloride, and doesn’t leave a waxy residue on hair, like most drugstore brands do, professional colour-protection shampoos are very gentle on your hair and are packed with emollients to lock-in colour.
3- Try a Toning Shampoo
You’re platinum? Adding a purple shampoo will neutralize unwanted undertones and brassiness – particularly if you’re a fan of icy, polar, very light blondes.
